Google Saga

This page lists the problems I've had with my Page Rank. Hopefully it may shed some light on things that might cause you some problems.

Notes to write about

ie todo:

Tue Jun 24 04:32:39 EST 2003

An IP address was showing up in the search, turned out to be a mirror that I don't really use, but it's used for image serving. Simply added robots.txt to remove it. Also emailed someone else to remove a copy of the page.

Tue Jun 24 04:06:11 EST 2003

I applied to the google ad program, for http://counter.bloke.com/ - I was rejected :(. There is not a whole lot of stuff on the site. It's just a counter, so it's not likely to have much content. Well anyway, now my PR dropped from 7 to 4. Coincidence? I hope so. Sigh, and so it did also for Flamingtext.com.

Sat May 17 11:50:36 EST 2003

I did this search: http://www.google.com/search?q=cameron+gregory+swish+bonnell+guistuff&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&filter=0 which looks for "cameron gregory swish bonnell" which are some specific keywords that should only be found together on our page. We got 10 results ... all copies of our page. The results are here

BonnellTech.com was doing a meta refresh in the header: It had: ]

<HTML>
<HEAD>
<META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" CONTENT="0; url=http://www.flamingtext.com/">
</HEAD>
<BODY>
<p>
If your browser does not automatically redirect you in a few seconds, please
click <a href=http://www.flamingtext.com>here</a>.
</BODY>
</HTML>
I changed this to:
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>Bonnelltech.com</TITLE></HEAD>
<BODY>
<p>
Please check out <a href=http://www.flamingtext.com>flamingtext</a>.com
</BODY>
</HTML>
for the 66.28.32.123 entry, I just added robots.txt file:
# robots-none.txt

#default is not allow, since only www.flamingtext.com is allowed
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
